As of Jan. 1, plastic bags are banned in Prince George’s County, Anne Arundel County, and the city of Frederick. And in Prince George’s County, paper bags are now 10 cents each. News4’s Aimee Cho reports.

The CEO of Prince George’s County Public Schools announced a recommendation to keep Pointer Ridge Elementary School in Bowie open. News4’s Dominique Moody reports the decision was made after a year of protest from students, parents and staff.

It was not immediately known what led up to the shooting. Detectives are there trying to determine a suspect and motive, police said.

A unique program in Prince George’s County allows students to graduate from college without debt. The PG3D Scholarship program launched several years ago and serves hundreds of students. News4’s Darcy Spencer reports one of the first students graduated Friday afternoon.
